I have worked with An Post for the past 11 years as a Postman and in August 2011 my accountant Colm Mangan recommended I speak to Christina Kearney to do a full financial review. I met with Christina and we looked at the various protection plans I had in place. Christina took time to see exactly I had, the reason they were put in place initially and also what changes there had being in my personal circumstances since they were put in place

Based on what we discussed I met with Christina again and she went through her recommendations in detail with me. My protection needs were much better addressed, focusing less on life cover and more on serious illness cover. Christina also recommended I put income protection in place to provide me with an income should I ever be unable to work long term. I was happy with what Christina recommeoded and in September 2011 all of these plans were put in place.

I thought nothing more of them until February 2012 when I suffered a heart attack at 42 years of age. The enormity of having something like this happen can be very hard to accept and deal with. No-one ever expects something like this will ever happen to them. As I continue to recuperate one thing I am so grateful for is that I do not have the added financial stress to worry about.
